Things to be skeptical about on Social Media:
-
1) 19 year olds claiming that they are “LIFE coaches”
2) angles, lighting and filters (added TO or considered in photos)
And...
3)fitness influencers who use language such as “green tea/ gum/ (insert food here)...helps me STAY ON TRACK” when referring to food.
-
The concept that we NEED to “stay on track” indicates TWO categories (or tracks if you will)
that you will always find yourself in.
-
One being...the “good” track:
“I’m being GOOD today! I’m making ALL HEALTHY choices! I’m staying ON track-I am a good person” -
which will only lead to the next category in a matter of minutes/days/weeks when life happens.
Which is...
-
2) being “off track” :
“Oh no! I’m being “bad” and making poor decisions- not sticking to the list of foods that are on the “good list”— “I’m bad and I need to get BACK ON track.”
-
Can you see how this type of wording can go down an ugly rabbit hole quickly? As well as hinder any mind/gut connection you have with the food your eating? -
Rather than learning to trust your body and fuel it properly FOR YOU- we rely on whatever FitKaren_76 or DarrinWhoLifts32 tells us TO do.
-
These two influencers- (sorry Karen and Darrin) know nothing about your hunger/satiety levels, your mental health, socioeconomic status or your medical conditions. -
So, with that being said- at the airport, I usually go with something that satiates my hunger-
(some sort of food)
-
I practice checking in with myself to see how the food makes me FEEL rather than relying on SuzyLifts81 who tells me if I’m being “on or off” track-
-
Because my food choices don’t make ME a bad or good person...
So, Screw you Suzy Steve and Darrin!!!
