I go to a #counselor-- and saw my first one at age 12.
-
The stigma around certain things in our #culture bother me- -
After birth, Pelvic floor therapy should be mandatory-
Loafers & Sandals should be worn with socks!
AND
Seeing a counselor is NOT a sign of weakness.
-
I am going to give you all some #tips on how to find the ‘right’ one for you. -
#1 FIND YOUR MATCH-
Hate group fitness b/c you tried ONE class? Welp, TRY ANOTHER ONE!
Instructors style and class vary like the taste of someones’ homemade chili and just because you didn’t like something ONE TIME- doesn’t mean you should write it off entirely.
Once, it took me 4 months to find someone I meshed with- be #patient.

#2 FIGURE OUT WHAT YOU NEED AND DO A SEARCH ONLINE.
The website @psych_today is a great resource for finding someone who specializes in what you are looking for. It has a function where you can enter your zip code and search for whatever it is that you are dealing with (ie. anger management, OCD, ED)

#3 UTILIZE WEBSITES & CALL THEM-
Once you find a couple that you may ‘think’ could be a fit, check out their website, testimonials, and get a ‘feel’ for the type of #therapy they practice. And go one step further and CALL the number and talk to them (if you can) briefly- ask questions etc. -
Feel free to comment or ask me about any other questions you have about seeing/finding a counselor and I’ll answer them as best as I can-
But please do me a favor and DO NOT BE ASHAMED by seeing one.
Emotional/Mental and Social help ARE HUGE pieces to the HEALTH puzzle-
NOT just food & exercise.
