Steel magnolias is one of my favorite movies.
-
I used to watch it all the time with my mom, aunts & cousins- and the Easter scene with Ousier (thought it was WEEZER 🤷🏻‍♀️)
at the end is SO classic.
-
It was made in 1989, so obviously I wasn’t a mother yet- but I always identified myself with Shelby, (but laughed the hardest Clairee’s jokes)
-
I had the opportunity to watch it again (about a year ago) with a neighbor. -
We popped popcorn, sat on the couch, and both cried more than I think either of us expected.
-
This time was different though, I didn’t identify with Shelby at all. I related more to M’Lynn (her mother) as the movie progressed. -
It’s funny how different life stages, perspectives and scenarios make us see things from different viewpoints. -
That’s one of my favorite things about movies — that you can visit them again, even a decade later & find a whole new point of view that You didn’t even know you were capable of seeing.
-
Fun fact: Revisiting Billy Madison and dumb and dumber did not have the same effect on me 😂
-
What are som some of your all’s 80s favs? Or classics that you can’t get enough of?
