Today I had a Doctors appointment-and part of the of being a new patient is ->getting weighed.
My recent focus has been on OTHER numbers- not the one on the scale.
I know I’m doing well because of the number she took at the beginning of the appointment-> (my blood pressure)
But one number that is slowly losing its power in my life—
Is the one that pops up when I step on the scale.
Of course I feel like a doofus when I say, “I’m going to turn around for this one Doc” but I’m totally cool with people thinking I’m weird anyway, so-whatever.
I know that for me, seeing this number has no benefit.
And
Ironically- my weight was printed out on the handout she gave me afterward, and as I glanced at it, I thought- “well sh#T, all that turning around crap was for NOTHIN’” haha.
But I wanted to write this to you all to tell you what I’m now repeating in my mind after seeing it.
“Jamie- this number literally represents the force of gravity on your mass- it says nothing about the patience you displayed this morning with your daughter when she dropped the egg carton on the floor- and it doesn’t represent how you made everyone feel while you taught your group fitness class this morning-it’s a number that used to have power on you, but sadly- it doesn’t anymore!”
So cheers to seeing the number and looking it in the face, feeling the tension and then releasing it!
That is such a win for me!
