How to think about exercise a different way. Movement for Longevity
I never took before & after photos when I worked at the nursing home.
If you have the privilege of aging, things might start to get more difficult (movement wise)
Continually moving joints and your body regularly will help with this process.
When I worked at a skilled nursing facility, no one was exercising for six pack abs or a ‘summer body’
Some of the reasons why we were exercising was for:
1.) improving strength, so folks could get out of bed with the help of one nurse- and not two.
2.) improved flexibility, so a patient could put on their sock on (with the help of a sock aide) and
3.) improved coordination so they could learn to use a cane or a walker if needed.
Thinking about movement over a lifetime helped me tremendously.
January 1st will come and go. I want to help you enjoy exercise over a lifetime.
That’s why I’ve never taken a before and after photo of the folks that I work with. Our bodies shift and change over time and figuring out how to show up for regular movement doesn’t stop when we hit a certain age.
I want to help you connect with yourself so you can find movement that brings YOU joy. I also want to help you develop self-compassion so you don’t beat yourself up for missing days/weeks or months of ‘scheduled’ workouts.
Movement for strength
Movement for flexibilty
Movement for lengevity.
Movement for MORE, because you are made fore MORE.
