when the process is slow, frustration likes to take over.

“…the best learning road is slow”
OFFTAH. Let me read that again, or maybe get it tattooed on my forehead?

How often have I said to myself “this is taking too long” or “it would be great to know WHEN this gets easier, so I know how long it’s going to take.” But in reality, I have no crystal ball (as my client and I dreamt of yesterday during our session) and maybe that’s why the workd that I do is so (or seems so) unconventional- because I have no answers.
I have no formulas.

All I offer folks is sitting in the suck WITH them when they feel like this, b/c although we might experience different reasons WHY we feel this way, I know I’ve felt this way before.

and here’s the ONLY thing I have to offer (that is also something I teach meatball <—the nickname of our daughter)

1.) let’s figure out if this is important to you in this season (ie. I’ll use the example of her practicing using a yo-yo-) IF this SHE wants to learn the yo-yo, we are going to have to develop tools together to practice how to keep showing up for a continual practice. (forwarning, I can’t answer this for her, I have to ask her guiding questions to get her to figure it our for her)

2.) If the answer is “I WANNA Yo-YO 4 LIFE” then cool, let’s develop a game plan. If the answer is, “actually yo-yoing isn’t that important to me so I’m going to quit it” then I want to help her navigate WHEN it’s time to let go and release something.

ALL THIS TO SAY. I have no answers, only more questions.
BUT-

IF you said YES to question ONE- if you have figured out that this practice is important to YOU, then the process of learning is often slow and laden with rocks of frustration.

Let’s work on finding appropriate boots to walk with.
