Last week, I had a long phone conversation with one of my cousins-
Our conversations can literally go from flatulence to how we have the power to change the world- in 7 seconds- that’s what makes talking to him so RAD.
-
As we were talking, he said “Jamie, I have something life changing I want to share with you-“
-
As I listened intently to hear how I could make a million dollars (cause that’s life changing right...? Haha)
-
He told me about a ‘thing’ he has recently started doing.
-
In addition to the “thank you’s” he tells people, he has made an addition...
-
He has added “I appreciate you”
And he said-
“Jamie! You should see the looks people give me- the stares, the “excuse me” like they are in disbelief.” -
He told me he now does it to the gas station attendant (he lives in Oregon..) and brings it close to home with his closest family members-
He adds- a tidbit about WHY he appreciates them-
And he says it blows people away.

So, I did it yesterday-
-
Yesterday, I told the check out guy at the grocery store who was telling me a story-
-
“I appreciate you” I told my friend who gave me the recommendation to teach in the park “I appreciate you” and I told the women running the program “thank you! I appreciate YOU”

And you know what?!
Were they blown away?
Meh- maybe?
But what changed the MOST was ME!
Holy crap did the people I encounter all of yesterday have amazing things to offer the world-
-
There is a lot of crap in the world for sure- I’m not delusional, but there is also a lot of cool people doing cool things in their job-
And for all of you here today, showing up to face it all again. -
I appreciate you.
