Growing up, my family always encouraged me to create. .

I applaud my parents for making me feel like a young Julia Child- when at the ripe age of 7, I made them taste meals that consisted of ketchup, hot sauce and freshly ground pepper. (and note that I use the term “meal” loosely)

And I’ll never forget the lesson my brother once taught me about drawing- “Try to avoid using an eraser Jamie, see if you can adjust- make a masterpiece out of something that you once thought of as a mistake”

I was inspired by a dear friend for this project and we had a blast creating it together.

She had the brush, picked out the colors and went to town.

I helped a *little* bit -mostly in not allowing her to pick out the black paint EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. hahaha. .

But it reminded me of what a blessing it is to be able to create-

whether it be baking, editing movies, writing, crafting great brew, quilting, capturing photos (you get the point)

I like to think of it as a form of prayer, a way to express to the world something that is uniquely you, or a way to make something for the sheer joy of making it- .

May we all have the freedom to create something beautiful today.
