A day centered around food was one that brought up loads of negative talk for me-
I’ve worked through a lot of it- but still have a crap ton to do. (I mean who is ever truly done with all their life’s work?) 😂
And- before I go into WHY this talk about “earning” a meal doesn’t work for ME- more power to you, if it works for you.
MY reasoning stems from:
A poor use of the word “earn”
I used to make myself exercise thanksgiving morning because I knew how much I was a) either going to consume or b) how I was going to try and LIMIT how much I was going to consume-
and by working out morning of- I was somehow “earning” what came next.
Food is a form of nourishment, and the BEST part about it - is the gathering piece (which sometimes can bring on a whole other anxiety piece to some...)
Now, I have re-framed what I tell myself- and if want to get out and walk, or get in a morning workout because I WANT to move my body- and lubricate my joints and prevent a bunch of diseases—- cool!
But if I hear myself say, “you HAVE to do- and if YOU don’t— you CANT have (xyz)”
Then I know I’m going down a slippery slope.
Like I’ve said before- self awareness is such a cool thing-
To one person- the word ‘earn’ is just a four letter E word- and to me- (when used in the context of food) is no bueno.
Just some random Jamie thoughts for you to chew on.
